The 2015 NSW Dressage Championships have been described as one of the best ever, as four days of competition wrapped up at Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) today.

More than 200 riders completed in excess of 400 tests across all levels, including grass roots Amateur Owner Riders competing in their own championships for the first time.

Athens Olympian Rebel Morrow will join with Brisbane City Cr Julian Simmonds to formally open the newly refurbished arena at Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian Club.

The project is proudly funded by a Community Sport Clubs Grant from Brisbane City Council. $100,000 has been spent resurfacing the arena to ensure it meets international standards.

The 2015 NSW Dressage Championships will be the last chance for riders to earn scores that count towards the prestigious Dressage NSW Annual Awards.

The awards, which range from Novice to FEI Big Tour and include ponies, professionals and Amateur Owner Riders, are presented each year to the horse and rider combination who have achieved the highest average scores over five dressage tests within the qualifying period, one state championship to the next.

Entries closed on July 22, resulting in more than 200 riders set to complete 410 tests on 266 horses across all levels from September 3 to 6 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC).

Entries are up on last year’s event, which saw a total of 327 tests ridden.

Amateur Owner Riders (AOR) will compete in their own division for the first time in 2015, with 163 riders entering on 86 horses.

This ride will be run out of Three Waters “High Country Holidays”, Bullock Mountain Road, Glen Innes, New South Wales, 2370 and will traverse the beautiful New England countryside.

This ride is to raise much needed funds, which are vital to the continuation of important research into causes and cures of this debilitating disease called cancer.

The total cost of the Crackin’ Cancer part of the ride is $200. That will include the cost of the Welcome Dinner and the Goodbye Dinner. A $25 – non-refundable deposit to be paid to Crackin Cancer is required for all bookings.
