EQUITANA Melbourne 2016 has finished for another year and Sunday has delivered a perfect final day for the equine showcase. With all competitions and challenges drawing to a close there were plenty of results and great personal achievements for riders of all disciplines.

Warm weather welcomed day three of EQUITANA Melbourne as crowds flocked to the showgrounds for another jam-packed day of equestrian action. Saturday, or as it has been referred to in recent years as “Dressage Day”, continued the form of EQUITANA’s previous two days by showcasing a program that was bursting at the seams with talent, education and elite competition.

It was another beautiful day in Melbourne for Day Two of EQUITANA, which saw crowds arriving in droves for an action-packed schedule of competition, education and shopping galore.

With EQUITANA Melbourne well and truly underway, Friday saw a diverse program from Show jumping to Barrel Racing to the always entertaining Couples Challenge. The flood of spectators lived through every turn, twist, jump and weave that the day had to offer.

The Power of Pink dressage and show jumping weekend is fast approaching. It is a National Breast Cancer Foundation endorsed charity event. It will be held on the 8th and 9th of October, 2016 at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds.

Heath Ryan has edged out Judy Dierks in a nail-biting finish to the popular Grand Prix Freestyle event at the 2016 NSW Dressage Championships. Ryan, riding Anthony Thornhill’s Utopian Cardinal, achieved a technical score of 69.60% and an artistic score of 71.60% from the five judges to clinch victory in the Equestrian NSW FEI Grand Prix Freestyle CDI-W with a total 70.60%.

Arcadia rider Judy Dierks has taken out the Mulawa Performance Grand Prix CDI-W at the 2016 NSW Dressage Championships. Dierks rode a stunning test on Diamond Star, owned by Vicki Newham, to take yesterday’s (Friday) class with 69.080%.

The evening entertainment of EQUITANA Melbourne kicks off on Thursday, the 17 November, with the Double Dans and The Wilson Sisters. In a show that promises laughter, learning and lunacy for the whole family to enjoy, RM Williams “Flight Without Wings – featuring the Double Dans and The Wilson Sisters” is a show that everybody should mark down in their event calendar.

The NSW Dressage Championships has added a CDI-W to its 2016 program in what is set to be the biggest and most inclusive state championships ever. More than 275 horses guided by 215 riders have entered for the championships, which take place from September 8 to 11 at Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) at Horsley Park.
