The Master is Coming!
The training of horses has had a revolution in the last 40 years and one of its leaders has been John Lyons from Colorado in the US.
Lyons’ approach of establishing a partnership between horse and handler is based in part on the principles of operant conditioning as he encourages owners to notice what is going on with their horses and to use consistent cues and reinforcement to encourage positive behaviour and discourage negative. John places a strong emphasis on safety of handler and horse, using gentle techniques, and eschewing dramatic results in favour of setting specific goals, then teaching them by use of clear signals, responsible methods, and consistency.
Carrying the mantle of ‘America’s Most Trusted Horseman’ John is no stranger to Australia, having visited no less than (insert times). However, the opportunity to attend a Clinic with this masterful Trainer have been limited.
David Simons, John Lyons first accredited trainer in Australia, has been working with John to ensure Australians get another chance to see this miraculous trainer at work. David, and wife Sandi, have announced John will be in Perth WA, Pakenham Victoria and Tamworth in NSW in September, 2016. “John’s training schedule is so hectic in the US it’s been really hard for us get him here for any length of time. Luckily this time he’ll be able to do the three states and a lot more people will get to experience and see John at work” David said.
