Competition has been fierce at the second day (Thursday, April 7) of Australia’s most prestigious international dressage event, the 2016 Sydney CDI***.

World Equestrian Games (WEG) representative Brett Parbery from NSW took out the first competition of the day, the Jilli Cobcroft Prix St Georges (CDI 3*) , on Jane Farrell’s chestnut gelding, Larenso, with 71.16 per cent ahead of fellow NSW rider Daniella Dierks on her own Solo Feliz with 70.11 per cent.

The Prydes EasiFeed FEI Grand Prix (CDI3*) was won by Sue Hearn of NSW with her own gelding, Remmington, on 68.42 per cent, just 0.16 per cent ahead of second placegetters Judy Dierks on Vicki Newham’s Hannovarian gelding, Diamond Star.
In the first of the events for young riders, Mary Warren and Mindarah Park Raphael scored 66.36 per cent to win the Agnes Banks Equine Clinic Young Rider FEI Team Test CDI-Y, with Katharine Farrell riding Gregory Farrell’s Luxor 118 to victory in the Mulawa FEI Under 25 Intermediate II (CDI-U25) with 67.32 per cent.
Susan Elekessy and Don Rubin took out the Trailrace – Equipe Saddles, Grand Prix (CDN) with 64.58 per cent.
The day also saw the first round of the young horse classes, with the 4-, 5- and 6-year-old classes all won by male riders.
Taking out round one of the Saffron Performance Horses Sydney CDI Young Horse Championships 4-year-old class was David McKinnon on Freestyle MS, while Rodney Martin rode SPH Renaissance to victory in the Mustad Saddleworld Sydney CDI Young Horse Championships 5-year-old class with 87.2.
Gordon Pratt on Bloomers Simply the Best won round one of the Saffron Performance Horses Sydney CDI Young Horse Championships with 83.6.

The action continues today (Friday, April 8) with the Equestrian Australia FEI Grand Prix Special (CDI3*), Equine Podiatry & Lameness Centre – FEI Intermediate I (CDI 3*), I.R.T. Advanced copetition, plus individual young rider and round two of the young horse championships.
