Prerequisite: Previous attendance at our standard trimming workshop

This workshop aims to:

Not only refresh and consolidate your basic maintenance trimming, but also to take your hoof management knowledge and skills to the next level, exploring both the subtleties and variations in equine hoof balance.  We aim to help you solve any problems you may be having; either with your horse handling / tool skills / trimming or your horse’s progression as a barefoot mount.  We will also update you with recent developments in the continuing evolution of equine hoof care.

Content:

-Revision and further development of equine hoofcare theory, introducing the concept of equine

podiatherapy, aiming for life long soundness.

-The finer points of hoof balance.

-Indicators of ‘good’ feet versus ‘bad’ feet.

-Indicators of dysfunction and incorrect movement.

-Management of common hoof deformities and pathologies.

-Developing thorough observational skills.

-Group discussion of each participant’s horse, including specific trimming needs and management.

-Supervised trimming of your horse.

-Class discussion and analysis of the movement of each participant’s horse, played back on a large  screen with our special slow motion video cam.

Who is the clinic for?

People who have previously attended a Barefoot Blacksmith trimming workshop and are wanting to refresh and progress further with their knowledge and trimming skills

Time: arrive 8.15am for an 8.45am start finishing around 4.30 pm.
Cost: $230 full participants with or without horse
