The event now in its fifth year was awarded “Community Event of the Year” by Tweed Shire Council in 2011. So far we have raised just over seventeen thousand dollars for Breast Cancer Research. I am looking for prizes for our monster raffle and prizes for riders. All funds raised are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
There were over 125 entries with riders coming from Port Macquarie to Brisbane entering last year’s event. We had prizes to the winners in all divisions but also fun prizes for the Pinkest Horse, Pinkest Rider and “Pretty in Pink” best dressed horse and rider in pink. All riders had a fantastic day with smiles everywhere you looked. There was also a large division of junior riders (all girls) and we hope that from a young age we can help them understand the importance of being aware of this disease that affects so many women. Dressage is often a very serious sport, so to see every rider with a splash of pink or more somewhere was fantastic.
Breast Cancer will touch so may of our lives, family and friends and as dressage being mainly dominated by women; we thought this event is a perfect way to raise awareness and a fun way to raise money for such a worthy cause.
Sponsorship to our event gives you exposure via our event programme, website, Facebook page(460 followers!), Club Newsletter, media releases and announcing over the PA on the day. Any special offers that you would like to promote can be advertised also.
With excitement building for this year’s event already, we’re aiming for ten thousands dollars to donate. Help us achieve our goal!
Saturdays showjumping starts off at 9am with clear rounds then an AM7 class in five heights, show jumping continues Sunday at 9am with Top Score in five height classes and Grand Prix in four heights finishing with a Pink Fox Hunter class 1-1.20cm. Show jumpers will have a beautiful trophy rug up for grabs for the overall champion on Sunday.
Dressage will run over both days with junior classes in Preparatory, Preliminary and Novice and Senior Preparatory on Saturday. This year we have introduced a Junior and Senior costume class. The class is for a freestyle dressage test where riders design their test at any level and music which has a time limit of five minutes, riders and horses dress up. Riders also have the option of riding the test in a quadrille, Pas De Deux or individually. EA safety rules apply, helmet boots etc.
Sunday in the dressage rings concludes all the higher level tests starting at Preliminary level going all the way through to Advanced. We have prizes galore with Pinkest Show jumper and Pinkest rider, pinkest horse and Pinkest Dressage horse being awarded. Encouragement awards are awarded to junior and senior riders both in showjumping and dressage over the two days. \at the end of each day we will be presenting awards and Sunday we will draw the monster raffle with thousands of dollars of prizes up for grabs. Entry forms are available on TVEG’s website, Facebook page, local saddleries and also online at nominate.
